PS4L Organises Maitland Giants Baseball Club Reunion

Play Sport4Life, a new sport for development venture, based in the Kensington/Factreton/Maitland areas, organised the Maitland Giants Baseball Club Reunion where several of the club’s former greats were inducted into the club’s newly established Hall of Fame.

The evening was well attended and saw former players from many eras get together for the first time. Kenny Roman, the club’s star pitcher from the late 1960s and early 1970s was flown in from Australia to attend the event and surprised birthday boy on the night and club legend Danny Page when he walked in with a huge Maitland Giants birthday cake.

Play Sport4Life is aiming to revive sport in the community as a means to deal with the social issues plaguing it – rampant drug abuse, gang violence, domestic violence and crime. PS4L intends to provide a safe environment where children and adults can play sport and have fun and at the same time learn essential skills and values such being disciplined, team work and respect for others.
